The Wake County Revenue Department accepts VISA and MasterCard for payment of taxes
IMPORTANT - Card users are assessed a separate service fee for the use of this payment option. The system will advise you of the fee amount prior to your authorization.
The service fee is collected by the County and paid to the credit card associations. All merchants that accept credit cards must pay these fees, but commercial merchants will set the price of goods and services
high enough to absorb the fees. The County cannot raise prices to cover these fees and must collect 100% of the taxes due. Therefore, in order to offer taxpayers the option of paying by credit card, a service fee must be charged to cover the additional transaction cost.
The service fees are negotiated between the North Carolina Office of the State Controller and the credit card companies. By combining many
state and local government agencies, the State Treasurer can negotiate a favorable rate for its customers.
IMPORTANT - The checking account information entered on this site should be from your own personal business bank account.
Payments made using routing and checking account numbers from checks issued against your credit card, equity line or money market account may return as unpaid.
Contact your lending institution to determine whether those accounts may be used for your online (ACH) tax payment.
No service fees are changed for using this payment option. Your checking account will be debited within 2 business days from the time of your online authorization and payments
will be reflected on our web site within 3 business days. The actual payment date on your tax bill be recorded as the date your payment posts.
If a DMV registration block exists on your license plate, the block will not be removed until the payment has been successfully debited from your bank account, which
could take up to two business days.
